Cafe by Park Bench Deli, featuring a more refined, healthier menu.
The food: You will see a smaller selection of Park Bench Deli’s classic range of hearty sandwiches on top of wholesome all-day breakfast fare like the Acai Bowl ($13) and a series of open-faced toasts such as Peanut Banana Toast ($10), Avo Toast ($11), and Bufala Toast with bufala mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar & paprika ($14), next to smoothies, cold pressed juices, tea, coffee and cold brews from Park Bench Deli’s Working Class Coffee (@wccoffee) label.
Fans of PBD would be more familiar the afternoon menu (after 11 am) comprising of hoagie rolls like the Short Rib “Swiss” ($20), filled with braised short ribs, sauteed mushrooms, crispy bacon, cheddar & mustard aioli. There a vegetarian-friendly option in the form of Broccoli Melt ($15) if you’re looking for middle ground, consisting of broccoli, red peppers, onions, oyster mushrooms, mustard aioli, pepperjack & cheddar cheese between ciabatta buns. Or settle for the Chinese Chicken Salad ($16) or Beets & Greens ($13) if sandwiches isn’t your thing.
The space: Taking over the co-working space on the ground floor of The Working Capitol left vacant by now-defunct The Daily Roundup, most of the cafe interior has remained the same, apart from the larger seating area.
The buzz: CBD’s favourite sandwich joint’s venture into the trendy cafe scene, out to woo the healthy-eating demographic with a more wholesome selection of cafe fare.
