Tempura and tendon specialty casual dining concept.
The food: A wide variety of tempura, featuring freshly fried ingredients such as prawn, white fish, silver fish, salmon, egg, mushrooms, seaweed and an assortment of vegetables, as well as the rare anago (sea water eel) and shishamo. Akimitsu’s series of tempura don is drizzled with a choice of original or spicy sauce, while the tempura rice set is paired with the tempura dipping sauce that we’re familiar with, along side a unique range of sesame salt and matcha salt dip. The value-for-money tendon sets include the Signature Tendon ($14.90), Ebi Tendon ($17.90) and the Kakiage Tendon ($15.90). The latter also appears as the Kakiage Tencha ($17.90), a unique combination of Tendon and Chazuke (Japanese porridge) with 3 different ways of consumption.
The buzz: Akimitsu is an award winning Tempura & Tendon restaurant from Asakusa, Japan, with over 128 years of history, including multiple gold medal of the annual Japan Donburi Award, brought to you by the Japan Food Holdings, the company behind restaurants like Ajisen Ramen and Menya Musashi.
