A modern Singaporean restaurant inspired by traditional zi char, serving a wide selection of local flavoured, Japanese-style rice bowls and salad during lunch, and modern zi char style dishes at dinner. Jiakpalang’s line up of rice bowl include the Signature Sesame Soy Chicken ($6.90), a chicken rice-inspired rice bowl served with a unique combination of marinated wood ear mushrooms and pomegranate, and the Nonya Assam Salmon ($8.90) with pineapple salsa, eggplant and okra, while a few notable weekly specials (which might or might not return) to look out for are Chilli Crab Rice with Soft Shell Crab, Nonya Curry Chicken Rice, and Bak Kut Teh Pork Rice.

Come dinner from 6 pm, Jiakpalang dishes out a series of  mod-Sin zi char fare, like the signature “Ang Ji Kao” beef cheek braised in Guinness stout, accompanied by crunchy peanut butter mash ($17), the smokey Charcoal Katarosu Pork Collar served with a robust Kopi-C au jus ($16), and the deconstructed Har Cheong Prawn Paste Chicken Roulade ($13).
