Intimate modern Japanese sake bar set in a dimly-lit space located above My Awesome Cafe, offering a unique selection of sake. Kabuke classifies their sake selections into three categories, A ($8/$24), B ($12/$36) and C ($18/$54), as well as a sake flight ($24) which consists of three choice of sake sample (50 ml) from each category. Check out the sweet, fruity Tokubetsu Junmai ($12 for 90 ml, $36 for 300 ml) from award-winning Nanbu Bijin sake brewery, that’s great with spicy food, such as the the Baby Corn with sriracha sauce, mayo and furikake, from the selection of food inspired by otsumami (a Japanese term referring to food eaten as an accompaniment to alcohol).
Kabuke’s seasonal food menu is designed to complement the sake, for instance, the classic Nasu Dengaku (sake-infused miso glazed eggplant with yuzu $9) and Crispy Goma Goma Wings ($12), both that would go well with Ichinokura brewery’s Mukansa Honjozo Super Dry ($8) with a rating of SMV: +9.5. There’s also a customizable Mini Umami Bomb rice bowl (around $12), comprising of toppings like ikura (salmon roe), hotate (scallop), onsen egg, and salted fish skin, as well as cheese board to go with your sake.
