Traditional Teochew snack stall well-known for the artisanal handmade kueh (a type of dumpling-like snack with an assortment of fillings wrapped in smooth rice flour skin). The variety at Lai Heng includes Png Kueh (glutinous rice cake), Gu Chye Kueh (Chinese chives cake)  and Soon Kueh (stewed turnip cake) as well as the crowd-favourite crispy-exterior Soon Kueh that’s pan-fried, adding an additional dimension to its texture.

Apart from the generous amount of well-seasoned filling that features ingredients like fried shallots and chopped dried shrimps to name a few, the highlight of Lai Heng’s range of kueh is no doubt the smooth and chewy, yet thin and almost-translucent quality of the skin, handmade on a daily basis. The kueh are usually paired with an optional sweet and savoury dark soy sauce and chilli sauce.
