Japanese eatery offering a value-for-money variety of classic Japanese rice bowls and curry dishes. The selection from Otoko’s stall at Sultan Plaza includes pan-fried Salmon Teriyaki Bowl ($8), sukiyaki Beef Bowl ($8) and the crowd-favourite Curry Set ($7) which come with a deep-fried prawn, with a huge piece chicken katsu or pork katsu, slathered in Japanese curry. Almost all set meals comes with an onsen egg, soup and salad – pretty good value for its quality and central location.
Otoko’s second outlet at Hougang occupies an air-conditioned space features new items such as sushi rolls, tempura, classic Tendon ($10.80), as well as build-your-own curry bowl where you get to mix and match with up to 19 fried sides. They include Chicken Cutlet ($2.80), Ham & Cheese Roll ($2.80 for 2 pieces), Bacon Tomato ($1.80 for 2 pieces), cheese tofu or bacon potato to name a few, to pair with either curry rice ($2.80) or curry udon (starting at $3.80). Other side dishes include Salmon belly Aburi Onigiri ($10.80) and Fresh Corn Tempura.
