Popular hawker stall specialising in the Sichuan spicy “pot” dish (it’s not the same as the local definition of steamboat/hot pot). At Ri Ri Hong, you get to pick the ingredients that you want (just like Yong Tau Foo), the level of spiciness you prefer for your gravy from 4 different levels – non-spicy to very spicy, as well as to have it “dry” or with more gravy (that features more than 20 spices and herbs such as Sichuan peppercorns, garlic and ginger), to go with your rice or noodles.

The serving size is huge and the large variety of ingredients and items that goes in your bowl ranges from $1 to $3, including prawns, squid, pork, chicken, meatballs, luncheon meat, Chinese sausages, tofu, bean curd skin, bean sprouts, cabbage, mushrooms, lotus roots, bamboo shoots and vermicelli, served with toppings like toasted peanuts, sesame seeds, dried chilli, Chinese parsley and more. Be prepared to queue up during peak hours and get your handkerchief ready to wipe your sweat.
