The first outpost of popular craft beer brewery outside Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, featuring 30 taps on-site with 10 flagships, 10 limited releases, and 10 guest taps and other local collaborations on rotation. Heart of Darkness has reportedly brewed over 280 different styles of craft beer since their inception in October 2016.
A couple of award winners from their wide-ranging repertoire include the ‘Core Range’ include the refreshing, flavorful Primeval Forest Pilsner; the bright, lush Dream Alone Pale Ale; rich, aromatic Loose Rivet New England IPA; and the wonderfully bold Kurtz’s Insane IPA, Heart of Darkness’ hoppiest beer that registers 102 on the IBU (International Bitterness Units)
The taproom also serves up a small bar menu of Vietnamese and Vietnamese-fusion mains such as Ginger Braised Chicken Rice ($15), Wagyu Beef & Cheese Burger ($28), Steak & Fries ($28), and Pork Ribs ($24). Bar snacks include Cha Gio (Vietnamese seafood fried spring rolls, $12), Chorizo Sausage Rolls ($15) and Sliders ($8/2pcs or $16/4 pcs) that comes with a choice of Vietnamese pulled pork, fish cake, lemon chicken or Wagyu Beef.
For the uninitiated, Heart of Darkness is named after a famous novel by Joseph Conrad, as the book’s theme of exploration and man’s journey into the dark unknown resonates with Co-founder and CEO John S. Pemberton’s roots in homebrewing.
