Popular dessert stall run by a mother and daughter team specializing in handmade traditional kueh, made using modern, reinvented recipes. Kueh Ho Jiak’s signature Ang Ku Kueh (starting from $1.50) comes in various shapes and colours – natural colours imparted from the different type of sweet potatoes used in making the outer skin of the pastry, instead of the conventional glutinous rice. Fortunately, these modern kueh recreations are known to taste as good as they look. Kueh fillings include the classic mung bean, peanuts, yam and red bean, as well as inspired flavours like durian, jackfruit, coconut and even hae bee hiam!
Besides the variety of Ang Ku Kueh, you can also find a selection of sweet potato Rice Kueh ($1.20), Pumpkin Yam Cake ($1.60), Ubi Kayu ($2.20) and even ‘bomb’ puffs ($1.50) that comes with assorted curry fillings. Kueh Ho Jiak does not use any pork or lard in their snacks.
